Here’s a recording we made in September of our version of Wayne Cochran’s teenage tragedy song, “Last Kiss.” We recorded this for a new compilation album by blogger and author Ray Padgett, created to celebrate the 10th anniversary of his blog, Cover Me. The compilation is made up of songs that most of us know only through their iconic covers. If you grew up in the 1990s like we did, you probably know “Last Kiss” as a Pearl Jam song, even though it was actually written by Wayne Cochran. Please take a moment to observe Mr. Cochran’s epic pompadour.

We recently began using an array of Ear Trumpet Labs microphones in our live shows, and we thought it would be fun to try tracking this single at home using just those four mics: a Louise, two Edwinas, and a Nadine. What you hear is 100% Live from Roy’s Living Room. We think it came out pretty dang good! A lot of that is due to the bang-up mix/mastering job by Nate Lanzino. Special thanks to Ralph the Cat for staying quiet during tracking.

You can stream it now on Spotify, Apple, or your favorite music streaming service.
